Company History

Commtech registered as a business in 1980 to undertake HVAC Systems balancing and testing. At that time commissioning standards relied on the IHVE Commissioning Codes. As good as these were, they did not cover all systems that were being designed and installed at that time. VAV systems were becoming more popular and there were no recommended guides to ensure correct balancing and testing was undertaken. We worked with BSRIA in the early '80's to address these shortfalls and a series of Commissioning related guides were published.

At the same time we were working with a very prominent Developer and Main Contractor to develop the concept of Commissioning Management. At the launch of the above mentioned BSRIA publications, Roger Clark presented the first guide to Commissioning VAV Systems of which he was the author. This was the first time that the prominent commissioning specialists were under 'one roof'. Discussions between these after the event led to the formation of The Commissioning Specialists Association (CSA) This is now established and provides standardisation of grading for commissioning personnel and the only nationally recognised training specifically for commissioning specialists. Commtech was a founding member and still actively supports the CSA.

In 2003 Commtech was acquired by IMI plc and today Commtech is now one of the leading Commissioning Specialists and similar companies overseas enabling us to offer services throughout the world.
